Stories Casey and I have collected since starting Med School:
1) Casey walks in the door from a normal day of school. As usual I rush to give him a hug, but I notice something a little different. He has a little dried blood under his nose. I start licking my finger and whipping it off- like any concerned wife. I think he has gotten a bloody nose and start asking him about it. Trying to see if he had gotten into a rowdy fight, or due to the stress burst a vessel... who knows! As I start a very concerned conversation Casey says in a sly voice, "I didn't get a bloody nose." It was like a movie I reviewed conversations Casey and I had had throughout the day... he was in the anatomy lab. IT WASN'T CASEY'S BLOOD! So yes, I licked a strangers blood off my husbands face. Niiiiice.
2) Weeks later I was able to meet this stranger... I joined Casey in his anatomy lab. At the time they were working on dissecting Mr. Dead Body's neck. Although it was interesting it was hard for me to get over the smell- formaldehyde is not for me. The best part about this field trip was that I was able to snag a bag that was for the second years (they had some left over and I stole one!).
3) I helped Casey study for a test once (notice the use of ONCE). I was reading a practice test to him and lets just say I had slight difficulty pronouncing all the words. After several glasses of water and announcing my frustration Casey opted for another way of studying. Conclusion- the medical world has it's own language of weird medical Latin.
4) I've officially decided med school is just like how Jerry Seinfeld says it was. They study a man with a tube that goes down to a circle area. Doctors learn how to make people wait in a little room with their pants around there ankles. Casey has fallen right in line with all these theories, he has come up with his own medical motto. Whenever I go to Casey with a medical concern and question without fail I will hear these words..."Just watch it." What an answer! Leaves you satisfied and comforted it's nothing fatal. Yes, I think Casey is going to make a great doctor!
