Thanksgiving Weekend

The weekend started out with some sibling bonding time... Cameron came to visit from New York so we all went to go see The Blindside. Which instantly became a favorite. It was so good! A MUST SEE for sure. Then it was time to go home and get ready for the 16th Annual Steve McDermott Turkey Bowl.

Casey and the boys all got together and had a flashback of the glory days. Casey had an amazing catch- little did he know this would be the main cause of lots of aches and pains the next day! It was nice for him to get out of the house and get some fresh air while I had the whole kitchen to prepare some Thanksgiving dishes. I think my sweet potatoes, apple crisp, and pumpkin chocolate chip bread were all hits! We had Thanksgiving dinner with the Kiser family. It is always nice to get with family and tell funny stories and just sit around the table and talk. After cleaning up everything from dinner and eating myself into a bigger wardrobe the kids played games and watched 4 Christmases. Lots of laughs and lots of fun. I will say I did miss my family- they were all in Georgia for a big Irvine/Struble reunion. Missed you guys!!! Love you!!

We ended the weekend with the BIG GAME. Saturday morning started off a little rough in our house- yes there was some trash talking, and no not on my behalf. I had been talking up JDAWGS an awesome polish dog place in Provo that is soooooo good! So I decided to take Casey to my ol' walkin grounds and he loved it! JDAWGS was a hit! Then we met up with Lace Face for the game. The first half Casey was pretty quiet and it was nice enjoying the game with fellow BYU fan- Lacy. Then once Utah got the ball rolling the second half Casey livened up a little bit- funny how that happens. The game went into overtime- I really wasn't sure my voice would be able to pull through for the team. But it was a success! BYU came through with the win- never felt so good. It is amazing how one little game can make you feel so good- and for poor Casey so bad. He was silent for about the next 40 minutes. I do want to say- Max... really? But that does not mean I'm not happy BYU won!

Yes this can still happen after a game like that!
To lighten things up we stopped by Casey's grandparents Jean and Phyl. His Aunt Sandra and her family were in town and we got to catch up with them. It was so nice! It had been a while since seeing them... and it is always fun seeing family! And to make sure everyone was happy and cheery we stopped by In and OUT on our way home! It was so good. I still think they have the best shakes!
Good weekend. So much to be thankful for. I am so lucky to be surrounded by family, I am so lucky to have a family in Virginia who supports both Casey and I, so blessed to have an amazing husband.... the list never ends.

But now it is time for Christmas- and I have officially declared it Christmas in our apartment:

I officially declared it Christmas last weekend when I set up the tree... it is just so cozy to snuggle up by the fire and have only the lights of the tree when it is snowing outside...too bad it STOPPED snowing after that!!! P.S. Got Casey's Big Catch on film...it looks great!!!!

You are just too awesome for words--go BYU! Sweet that you were there. And, look at your cute decor! Mine is still in boxes...hopefully to come out soon. Will I see you this weekend at the Holiday social? I hope so. It's been much too long.
