Med Spouse Support Group- Meeting 1

In Attendance:
40 women
1 man
(it was awesome!)
Love support groups! It was awesome... got some great advice and had a few laughs. They have Rumbi Grill which is one of my favorites! I was able to meet spouses from all different years- and heard some horror stories!
Advice gained-
*Make the most of the time you have together... those times are few and far between.
*When you want to spend time with your spouse have a plan. This way you aren't complaining that you never DO anything- and you don't come to resent them.
*TAKE BIRTH CONTROL!- and remember... apparently it doesn't work in Europe! (A friend I made there got pregnant there first year of med school in Europe- its been a blessing and a struggle according to her but she doesn't recommend it.)
*Realize that he/she is just going to have to study so GET OVER IT!
*Get a trade or hobby of your own. (I'm thinking of taking up rock climbing, sewing, and photography.)

After the advice was given we were able to mingle and sign up for clubs- I am in a book club, service club, the Festival of Trees club (we are decorating a christmas tree to put up for auction for the Primary Childrens Hospital), and the social club. Looks like I am going to be a busy girl- Good thing Casey is going to be studying wouldn't want him to feel lonely without me!

Okay. So my husband isn't in med school obviously...but his job keeps him away 12 hours a day, 6 days a week...and no, I'm not kidding. Point being, great advice. I agree completely. Esp the last one...But, it's still hard. Luckily, you're staying in a familiar enviroment w/familiar friends not too far. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. (Not like I don't think u don't)

I realized I used a double negative in above comment. I hope you got what I meant...apparently pregnancy brings on forms of dyslexia too..

Are you planning on not having kids for a while because i'm definitely going to be pushing 40.. jk, 30. If you aren't we should start a support group for the non-preggos amongst alla the preggos. I love you!
