A Weekend of Sugar, Family, and Conference

We really kicked Easter off on Saturday- we had Easter dinner with the Kiser family! It was so nice to be with family... even Grandpa and Grandma Ekins made it! We got to catch up on what was going on in everyone's life and of course watch the Final Four games that were on! I am so glad we were not in Virginia... so we wouldn't have to face the victory dance and trash talk from my mom who won in our family brackets! YIKES- I guess she really knows her stuff! When Casey and I got home we couldn't wait any longer to exchange Easter baskets (I know this is breaking all the rules but when you don't have kids you don't have to follow them so closely!). OUR BASKETS WERE AWESOME! I'm not too sure what's more embarrassing that I was excited to get a Nerf gun in my basket or that my husband thought to buy one and put it in my basket! Casey and I finished off the night with a Nerf war, and an ambush attack on his brother Cameron who came over to visit! (Casey got a Nerf gun in his stocking for Christmas this year from me. Turns out we are 10 year olds!) Casey got Sherlock Holmes the movie!

Sunday I decided I would try to be the next Betty Crocker and made cinnamon rolls from scratch. This may not seem like a big feat for some but for those who know me... its pretty much a miracle. I decided that this is the year our family traditions are going to begin. I always thought that I wouldn't have to worry about traditions until we have kids but I am getting antsy. So I am setting things in motion- these cinnamon rolls are our Conference Weekend tradition as of today! But before all the excitement of the cinnamon rolls began I hide Easter eggs all around the house for Casey's annual Easter egg hunt! This is one of my favorite things we do, it is so funny watching him look for al the eggs!

The Betty Crocker fever continued as I am our Easter dinner. This is for you mom- I made roasted potatoes, ham, salad, and sweet potato casserole! YUUUUMMMMM.
But the icing on the cake for this Easter weekend was Conference. It was so nice to remember what life is all about on our Easter weekend. To hear the testimonies of our church leaders as well as their counsel is so uplifting. I am ready to set new goals and start anew right in time for spring- even if it did SNOW all weekend! All in all a great weekend to refocus and eat Reese's peanut butter eggs (they have the best chocolate to peanut butter ratio- its fact!).
